María Inés Taracena is an award-winning journalist who’s written about immigration and social justice issues for over a decade. She was born in Guatemala and immigrated to the United States at age 13. She’s now a senior producer at the independent global news program Democracy Now! And previously worked as a reporter based in Tucson, Arizona covering stories of grief, struggle and resistance from the Sonoran Desert and U.S.- Mexico borderlands.
